Pulau Ketam fresh seafood Steamboat at TUTA, Skudai, Johor Bahru.

Every year when come to the raining season, most of us like to choose steamboat for dinner during the cold evening. Everyone will be gather around the steamboat pot and keep warm...actually I like the special moment...

Recently, there is a newly open seafood steamboat restaurant located at the intersection of Jalan Temenggong 10 and Jalan Hulubalang 1 of Taman Ungku Tun Aminah, with the name of 'Pulau Ketam Steamboat Restaurant'. (N1.50904 E103.65284)

The restaurant has a simple setting, clean and well ventilated environment. You can have choices of indoor or outdoor dining area...

The staffs and the owner - Mr John were friendly and helpful. Our steamboat served on table pretty fast.
Their delicious chicken broth is prepared by few types of fresh ingredients and also one of the main attraction for the diners. Beside, they do serve Tom-yum broth and both were well presented in the common 2 in 1 steamboat pot (widely available in JB area)

They serve in minimum 2 persons package (RM35 for single type broth, RM37 for 2 types broth) and you can have a choice to taste only the side dishes (more than 40 types) without ordering the main package.

We ordered the 3 persons package, follow by the other fresh seafood...

And don't forget the fish noodles (must order!)

Their fish noodles is made from a blend of rich fish paste, it's a nice to savour with the steaming soup. The fresh springy fish noodles was different from other restaurant that I tasted before, it was a new experience for me!

We had few types of their popular seafood, crabs (with roes and without), big scallops,  white pomfrets, mussels and fresh oysters. Beside seafood, we also tried their New Zealand beef slices and deep fried dumplings.

Deep fried dumplings

We were really satisfied and convinced with the fresh seafood and the yummy broth! Not to mentioned the shabu-shabu beef slices and fried dumplings. It was a enjoyment having the steamboat in the raining evening, do you? (Yes, it's the local culture...)

According to the owner - Mr John, the fresh seafood and ingredients are ship 'daily' from Pulau Ketam to ensure the satisfaction for their customers taste bud.

It's good news for the steamboat fans to have another choice in Johor Bahru area. Have you try it before?

Seafood dinner along the Senggigi beach at Lombok island - Indonesia.

Traveling almost about 1 hour 30 minutes (approx. 60km) from Sade Village, passed by Mataram City (Capitol of Lombok)...we finally reached the Senggigi beach of Lombok. All of us agree to have our seafood dinner at Warung Menega (S8.52497 E116.06554) before check in to the resort.

The first scene that caught our attention was the smoky roof of the kitchen...

 photo IMG_3118_zps392b3f71.jpg

Everyone was curious about what happening in the kitchen...then, we discovered the grilling method is using charcoal and coir which resulted the smoky environment...

Let's have a tour in the kitchen before the dining area...

The 'warung' (common word as a restaurant) had a simple setting, where you have a options of indoor dining area or the outdoor area on the beach. For us, we definitely choose the beach area...

As usual, everyone was busy photographing the surrounding of the restaurant before the foods serve on table...

Next to the restaurant, there were many fishing boats parking around...felt excited because we will going to experience the boat ride tomorrow for island hoping, looking forward about it...

The seafood served on table pretty fast, most of us had the same package which were the fish, prawns, clams and squids. Some of us chose only fish and some don't take prawns... flexible package.
But all of us had one plate of kang-kong (water spinach) with the local recipe sambal chili, and unlimited rice...

The squids...

I like the local sambal very much! It was aromatic and hot!
Believe all the seafood grilled with the same sauce and recipe, the prawns, fish and squids were finger-linking good! And the clams taste the best among all...
All the seafood were perfectly succulent, sweet and spicy. Impressed by the local recipes. But the magical part was the yummy sauces...dark sweet soy sauce, garlic, local sambal and chili with onions. Every sauce provided different taste with the seafood, I love the chili onions and the sambal very much!

It was a total different experience having our dinner here, while enjoying the seafood in our hands and watching the beautiful sunset...

The outdoor dining area was full after the night fall...

Beside the seafood delights and the sunset, I like to concentrate on those fishing boats back to the shores...

Time to go home...

We were satisfied with the seafood dinner in Warung Menega. As I look into the menu, prices are reasonable too...I guess I'll be back again on my next visit to Lombok.

H.K.Rakit Seafood Restaurant at Jalan Pantai Kampung Pasir Puteh - Pasir Gudang, Johor.

The H.K. Rakit Seafood Restaurant (N1.42801 E103.95605) is located at the Kampung Pasir Puteh, behind the Tanjung Puteri Golf Club of Pasir Gudang, Johor. The word 'Rakit' (in Malay) means 'Floating'...well, it's because the restaurant was built on the sea (Johor Straits), and it looks like (kind of...) floating on the water...but it won't shake! :) And H.K. is 'Hock Kee', might be the name of the owner...

There is a 'unpaved road' to drive through which about 1.5KM...we like this place because it won't be over crowded and you can enjoy your seafood dinner quitely...

Photobucket
The timber small alley that lead you to the restaurant...

Photobucket
The restaurant has indoor and outdoor session. It was a nice weather that evening, so we prefer to dine at the outdoor area...

Photobucket
The outdoor dining area...

There is another 'floating' dining area which is Really 'Float'. But the staff said because of low tide, and they temporary close that session. According to the staff, this area also become a beer garden when almost midnight...

The peaceful and calm environment is the main reason attracted us to dine here, especially accompany with a Nice sunset...unfortunately, we didn't manage to see the Red Ball that evening...

The owner also has a mini Orchid garden in the dining area...are you a Orchid lover?!

The seafoods sell in the restaurant all are alive, well...they are Fresh!

The crabs - my favorite!

Our order for the dinner :-
*  Steam fish (sea bass)

Their signature dish is Salted Egg crabs

All seafood dishes tasted above average, I like the Steam Clams which was really special cooking method with the chili padi. The Salted Egg Crab was Nice and you can taste the salted egg even in the crab meat! Excellent!

We enjoyed the seafood dinner in the scenic view for more than 2 hours...with the company of Tiger beers. It is not complete having a seafood dinner in the nice environment, cool sea breeze without the company of beers! At least for me...:)

The Damage : RM222.00 for 4 adults and 3 children included drinks. Reasonable price for the different dining experience!

Due to the restaurant situated quite far away from Johor Bahru town, otherwise...I will visit it every month!

If you haven't try it before, please visit the seafood restaurant at least Once. :)
